It recently came to my attention that a rumor exists that I intend to reduce the number of deputies in the Mahaska County sheriff’s department if elected County Supervisor. I wanted to take a moment to address this rumor and set the record straight. It is my strong preference that the number of deputies serving in the County not be reduced and that the sheriff’s department continue to be funded at current levels. As a rural County resident, I believe the deputies serve a vital role in County law enforcement. I look forward to the opportunity to work with Sheriff DeGeest in building a stronger, safer Mahaska County.
