A Scott Van Veldhuizen Press Release

Mahaska County – Scott J. Van Veldhuizen of rural Oskaloosa has filed the necessary paperwork to be placed on the ballot for Mahaska County Supervisor in the Nov. 6th general election. Van Veldhuizen will be on the ballot unassociated with any political party as he did not run in the primary election, but was able to collect enough signatures through a nomination petition. He will be running for one of two open seats on the board.

Scott Van Veldhuizen was raised on a farm north of Oskaloosa and graduated from Pella Christian High School. He then went on to attend Iowa State University where he graduated with a B.S. degree in Agricultural Business. Van Veldhuizen returned to the farm after college with his wife Sandy.

Along with farming Scott has also worked for two other employers. Shortly after college he worked as a sales representative for Pioneer Hybrid International. A few years later Scott accepted employment with Ajinomoto Heartland, Inc. of Eddyville. His responsibilities there started with general production operations and advanced to research. Van Veldhuizen spent the last several years at Ajinomoto in management. While in management, his responsibilities included supervision of personnel and production operations.

Van Veldhuizen currently farms full time with his family north of Oskaloosa. They have five children who have been active on the farm and in numerous other activities including athletics, music, and 4-H. Scott has been a coach in several youth sports and is currently a volunteer coach on both the Oskaloosa High School baseball and football teams. He has also been a President of the Oskaloosa Indian Booster Club, an officer and member of Mahaska Ruritan Club, and currently serves as an elder on the leadership board of Federated Fellowship Church.

Van Veldhuizen says, “Mahaska County has been a great place for me to grow up and raise my family. We have had great opportunities to work here and also enjoy all the recreational opportunities the area has provided. I would appreciate your vote in November as I want to see this area continue to thrive and grow. I intend to do everything I can to improve Mahaska county for the future.”
