As the season starts the user groups get prepared at the Lacey Recreation Complex. Not only have practices begun, but youth sports groups have taken a part in the pre-sesason preparation. Wednesday, March 14th, the Babe Ruth League scheduled a clean up day at the new Kentfield Babe Ruth Fields.

Eight young men from the league came out to clean dugouts, take trash and see what needed to be done before the start of the season.

On Saturday, March 17th, 17 volunteers from the Mahaska County Soccer Club (MCSC) showed up to sort, line and paint at the soccer fields. “We love to see youth take part in the care of the complex,” said Sherry Vavra from MCRF, “this buy-in is what the community complex is all about. Everyone coming together to use and take care of the complex.” Chad from MCRF also said that the user groups who help do a great job and he appreciates all the prep work that they give. ”

The William Penn soccer teams are scheduled to come out next week and line their fields as well.
