Three Recognized by Heart

Oskaloosa–Corrin Lepper (Fr., Jefferson, Mo., Biology) topped a trio of William Penn women’s volleyball postseason honorees as the all-Heart of America Athletic Conference teams were announced Tuesday.

Lepper was named a second-team all-league performer, while Cameryn Campbell (Jr., Jefferson City, Mo., Education) was picked for the third team. Danielle Pendzinski (Sr., Winnebago, Ill., Elementary Education) claimed honorable-mention status to wrap up her career. A total of 14 players were chosen for each of the top three squads, while 11 were named honorable mentions.

The award is the second for Lepper (third team in 2018); Campbell and Pendzinski are first-time selections.

The trio helped WPU to a 12-19 overall record, including a 7-11 Heart mark.

Lepper paced the navy and gold with 324 kills (2.82 per set), while also hitting a team-high .234. She guided her squad at the defensive net as well with 104 blocks (19 solos, 85 assists). The sophomore tallied 16 double-digit kill performances, including a season-best 20 against Dakota Wesleyan.

Lepper ranked in the top 10 within the Heart (as of this release) in several statistical categories, including blocks (6th), blocks per set (0.9, 6th), attack percentage (7th), and kills (9th).

Campbell kept more than a few balls from finding the floor, tallying 596 digs (5.14 per set). She also paced the Statesmen with 25 aces and finished the fall with 47 assists. The junior reached double figures in digs in all but two matches and had a season-high 38 against Friends (six times with 30 or more).

The two-time Heart Defender of the Week, Campbell was fourth in the league during the regular season in digs and second in digs per set.

Pendzinski accumulated 244 kills (2.12 per set) during her senior campaign as she hit .192 overall. She also recorded 103 blocks (16 solos, 87 assists), while managing 41 digs. The senior hit the double-digit mark for kills on 11 occasions with a high of 15 twice.

As of the end of the regular season, Pendzinski ranked sixth in both blocks and blocks per set (0.9).

Trystin Luneckas of Grand View was chosen as Heart Player of the Year; she also claimed Setter of the Year honors. Kasey Davis of Clarke was named Attacker of the Year, while Baylie Katcher (Grand View) and Eryn Russell (Evangel) shared Defender of the Year accolades. The Co-Freshmen of the Year award went to Emily Box (Grand View) and Krystal Brauner (Central Methodist).

Coleman Lee of Central Methodist was picked as Coach of the Year by his peers, while the Assistant Coach of the Year laurel was won by Makani Cantor of Grand View.
