Oskaloosa–Statesmen pitcher Jennifer Whitehead (Jr., Oskaloosa, Iowa, Biology) was strong in three outings last week and for her efforts she was named Midwest Collegiate Conference Softball Pitcher of the Week Monday.

Whitehead earned her third POW honor of the year (tenth career) after guiding William Penn (27-13, 9-3 MCC) to a perfect 4-0 record last week.

The junior worked in three of the four contests, tossing a total of 13 2/3 innings. She finished 2-0 with a 1.54 Earned Run Average.

Whitehead only permitted one earned run in all three outings, and struck out ten in her two starts. In her other game, the southpaw entered in relief against a hot Grand View squad in Saturday’s second game.

For the year, Whitehead is 12-7 with a 1.58 ERA in 133 frames of work. She has posted 147 strikeouts with 36 walks and opponents are hitting only .194 against her. The junior, who has three shutouts and one save, has thrown 18 complete games.

The award is the fifth for WPU this year.
