The “Y”!! Your place for fitness and a whole new you!!
The New Year is upon us and the Y is the place to jumpstart and complete your fitness goals. The Y has plenty to offer all of those whose resolution this year is to take the weight off, and keep it off. Currently, the Y offers fitness classes from the beginner to the more advanced a total of 38 times per week, and starting on January 10th, eight more class offerings will be added bringing the total to 46 classes per week. The new additions include Zumba®, Power Yoga, and SilverSneakers YogaStretch®. Zumba® classes will take place on Monday/Wednesday from 5:30-6:30pm and Tuesday/Thursday from 4:30-5:30pm. Don’t miss out on the new fitness craze that is sweeping the nation and will get your heart pumping. Power Yoga classes take place on Monday/Wednesday from 6:30-7:30am in the fitness studio. This class will challenge everyone from the beginner to the more advanced, as we have a certified instructor on staff to guide you down your path to success. SilverSneakers YogaStretch® is offered Tuesday/Thursday from 1:30-2:15pm. Based on the proven method that has made our SilverSneakers MS-ROM® class so popular, YogaStretch will take you through a wide variety of seated and standing yoga poses designed to increase flexibility, balance, and range of movement. Perhaps just as exciting, the YMCA fitness studio is set for a remodel. Beginning January 3rd the room will be closed for renovations to include new laminate flooring! When the room opens up on Monday, January 10th for the new fitness class offerings, don’t be the last in line.
NEW EQUIPMENT! The adult fitness room at the YMCA has recently seen the addition of both new and subtle changes, as two new Precor treadmills have been added to the floor space, as well as a new recumbent bike and a spin bike for the avid cyclists. The equipment has received great reviews so far, as the member surveys conducted proved to the YMCA leadership staff that this was indeed exactly what the membership desired. Be on the lookout for more changes to the adult fitness room, as a free-weight overhaul is next up on the agenda. Stop in to see all the changes in action!
For those who desire the extra boost to their fitness and wellness, the YMCA also offers personal training packages at individual and group rates. Stop in to see the personal trainers on staff and to check out the new fitness assessment protocol to identify where you can focus your efforts to making major health improvements. We also offer the Just 4 You program, for those who desire to focus their efforts on an even more holistic approach. This program is a 7-week intensive offering including 7 personal training sessions, 7 nutritional consultations, and 5 massage therapy sessions. Let the combined forces of the YMCA, the Oskaloosa Hy-Vee, and the Mahaska Health Partnership go to work for you with the Just 4 You program.
