Ten Statesmen Garner Excellence in Academics Awards

Oskaloosa–A total of 10 members of the Statesmen shotgun sports team were honored by the NCSSAA with Excellence in Academics awards.

Dominick Ver Meer (Jr., Pella, Iowa, Mechanical Engineering), Russell Malterud (Grad., North Branch, Minn., Master’s of Organizational Leadership), and Liam Saunders (Fr., Grinnell, Iowa, English and History) pace the way with 4.00 Grade Point Averages at the end of the 2022-2023 school year.

Kade Dunkin (So., Hamilton, Iowa, Biology), at 3.98, and Carver Van Zee (Fr., Pella, Iowa, Industrial Technology), at 3.97, are next for William Penn, while Jarrett DeKoning (Sr., Grinnell, Iowa, Public Accounting and Business Management) is at 3.81.

Colten Uitermarkt (Grad., Otley, Iowa, Master’s of Organizational Leadership) (3.78), KayLynn Sieber (So., Marshall, Minn., Biology) (3.68), Holly Boeke (So., Oskaloosa, Iowa, Biology) (3.57), and Lane Arrowood (So., Newton, Iowa, Biology) (3.49) also eclipsed the mark.

To be eligible for the award, athletes must maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 or above on a 4.0 scale, have been on the team’s roster for at least one NCSSAA event, and have been enrolled full-time during the fall 2022 and spring 2023 semesters.
