Statesmen Remain 17th in Latest Mat Poll
Oskaloosa–Eric Burgey (So., Easton, Pa., Easton HS) is one of the few constants in the nation as the NAIA released its fifth regular season wrestling rating Wednesday.
Burgey, who has four falls this year (12-0 overall), remains #1 at 149 pounds. He is one of four individuals who have held their #1 ranking all season.
Rival Grand View is again the NAIA’s #1 with 129 points. Southern Oregon is second with 107.5 points, while Campbellsville (Ky.), Great Falls (Mont.), and Oklahoma City round out the top five.
Fellow Central Qualifying Group programs Missouri Valley (#7) and Baker (#10) are also in the top 20.
The Statesmen are seventh in the Central Group rating with 45 points, while Grand View remains first with 192.5 points. Oklahoma City is in the runner-up position with 123 points.
Burgey tops 149 pounds, while 141-pounder Tommy Kozak (So., Belleville, Mich., Thiel) and 184-pounder Kyle Soderblom (Fr., Newton, Lynnville-Sully HS) hold the #4 spots at their respective weights.
