Statesmen of the Week: Jaz Farrell and Mercer Roberts
Men’s basketball player Jaz Farrell (Sr., Miramar, Fla., Undecided) and women’s basketball player Mercer Roberts (Sr., Myrtle Beach, S.C., Wellness and Recreation) have been named the Statesmen of the Week for the week of November 13-19, presented by Gardner-Collier Jewelry.
Farrell started his week by scoring 16 points (6-for-12 FG, 2-for-3 3-PT, 2-for-2 FT) versus Graceland last Wednesday. The senior added two rebounds, two assists, and one steal as well.
He then posted a season-high 29 points in a win over Park last Saturday. The guard was 9-for-16 from the floor (3-for-5 3-PT), while also knocking down eight of his 10 free throws. Farrell, who played in 37 of the 40 minutes, came up with five rebounds, three blocks, two assists, and one steal as well.
Roberts opened with 21 points against Graceland last Wednesday on 8-for-12 shooting. She was 3-for-4 behind the arc and made both of her free throws. The senior also recorded eight rebounds, two assists, and one steal.
In a win over Park last Saturday, Roberts scored 14 points (6-for-11 FG) and made one three-pointer. She managed seven rebounds and one block as well.
