Statesmen Grapple at MVC Open

Marshall, Mo.–The William Penn men’s wrestling team competed with a sizeable grouping Saturday as it traveled south for the Missouri Valley Open.

Nine different individuals collected victories, including 125-pounder Jeffery Myers (So., Yelm, Wash., Secondary Education) and 141-pounder Carson Jensen (Jr., Idaho Falls, Idaho, Exercise Science), who both claimed one fall and one technical fall.

149-pounder Cole Smith (Fr., Baxter, Iowa, Biology), 165-pounder Jesus Diaz (Sr., Miami, Fla., Sociology), and 174-pounder Kendal Pugh (Fr., Letts, Iowa, Business Management) each notched one fall apiece.

Gentry Walston and Ryan Van Donselaar (Jr., Otley, Iowa, Exercise Science) both walked off with major decision victories at 125 and 165 pounds, respectively, while 125-pounder Dylan McConville (Sr., Portland, Ore., Business Management) and 133-pounder Brendan Ferenchik (Sr. Campobello, S.C., Business Management) had their hands raised one time as well.

Next Up: William Penn travels to Pella next Friday to compete in the Central Last Chance Invitational at 5 p.m.
