Slager recognized by NCAA as national leader in 2 tackle categories
GRINNELL, Iowa – The NCAA today officially recognized Ryan Slager ’19 as the Division III national leader for tackles in a game and solo tackles per game in 2017.
Slager, also the leader in tackles per game last season, finished with 15.9 per contest in 2017 while also recording 8.7 solo tackles per game. He was the NCAA leader overall, regardless of division, in tackles per game.
Slager, a linebacker from Orland Park, Ill. (Amos Alonzo Stagg), was a D3football.com All-West Region and All-Midwest Conference selection. He broke Grinnell’s career record for tackles with 447 during the 2017 season finale, and ranks third overall in the MWC for career tackles.
Additionally, Slager was named a finalist last month for the prestigious Cliff Branch Award.
