Six Place at Missouri Valley Open

Marshall, Mo.–With six individuals in the top six, the William Penn wrestling team performed well Saturday as it competed at the Missouri Valley Open.
Three separate Statesmen grapplers took home bronze in their respective weight classes, highlighted by 141-pounder Joe Eads (Fr., Morrison, Ill., Biology) who pinned three foes en route to a 4-1 day.
Jacob Rios (Fr., El Mirage, Ariz., General Accounting) also placed third with a 4-1 record at 133 pounds, winning once by fall and another time by major decision.
WPU had two heavyweight place-winners, led by Max Lewis (So., Duchesne, Utah, Biology) who was third with a 4-1 mark. The sophomore recorded two falls. Will Wan (So., Des Moines, Iowa, Sociology) joined Lewis, taking fifth with a 3-2 mark (two falls).
Jeremy Andujar (Sr., Tampa, Fla., Biology) dropped his third-place matchup to finish fourth at 125 pounds with a 3-2 record; he pinned a pair of opponents. 141-pounder Tyshon Cannon (Jr., LaGrange, Ga., Psychology) got on the podium as well, going 3-3 for sixth place.
Kionte Crocker (Sr., Brandon, Fla., Industrial Technology) produced multiple wins at 149 pounds; he was 3-2 with one technical fall and one major decision.
125-pounder John Altieri (Jr., Warwick, R.I., Sociology) and 174-pounder Jason Beebe (Fr., Oskaloosa, Iowa, Business Management) both won by pin once, while 125-pounder Nadhelo Charles-Pierre (Fr., Miramar, Fla., Sports Management), 149-pounder Kameron Maynard (Fr., Miami, Fla., Sociology), and 285-pounder Andruw Goin (So., Belton, Mo., Psychology and Sociology) all had their hands raised in victory once as well.
Next Up: William Penn returns to Oskaloosa next Thursday to host Hannibal-LaGrange in dual-meet action at 7 p.m. The dual will also serve as Senior Night.
