Sandi Brager, 73, of Oskaloosa, died Wednesday, September 25, 2019, at Unity Point Methodist Hospital in Des Moines. She was born August 15, 1946, in Buffalo, New York, the daughter of Frank and Alta Thomas Biederman.

Sandi graduated from Bentley High School in Livonia, Michigan in 1964. Following graduation, she moved to Oskaloosa and attended William Penn College (now William Penn University).

Following college, she returned to Michigan and worked in the accounting Department at Ford Motor Company in Detroit.

Sandi was married to Phyl Brager on October 7, 1967. To this union two children were born, Deborah and Tom.
In 1973, Sandi stayed home to care for her family and home.

In 1986, the family moved to Oskaloosa where they started the Eagle’s Nest Christian Book Store. Phyl and Sandi later divorced. In 2000, Sandi went to work for Brown’s Shoes in Oskaloosa. She retired from there in 2011.

Sandi was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Oskaloosa. She enjoyed knitting, reading, playing games on her tablet, and watching Netflix. Her greatest joy in life were her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed her very close relationships with all of her grandchildren.

Her family includes her two children and their spouses: Deborah (& Brad) Ewing of Oskaloosa, and Tom (& Jodi) Brager of St. Joseph, Missouri; four grandchildren: Matthew Brager, Kelcey Crain, Aaron Brager, and Courtney (& Eli) Burton; three great grandchildren: Dominic, Jaxson, and Amelia; a sister, Terri Claramunt of Michigan; a niece, Tracie (& Stuart) Munro of Michigan; and a nephew, Steve (& Kris) Claramunt of Michigan.

Sandi was preceded in death by her parents.

A memorial service will be held Monday, September 30, 2019, at 10:00 a.m. in the Bates Funeral Chapel with Reverend Molly Goodrich officiating.
As was Sandra’s wish her body has been cremated.
Burial of the urn will be in the Friends Cemetery. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
Visitation will begin Sunday after 12 noon in the Bates Funeral Chapel and the family will be at the funeral chapel from 1-3 Sunday afternoon to greet friends and relatives
