Randy Murphy, 70, of Oskaloosa died Wednesday, October 26, 2022, at his home in Oskaloosa, Iowa. He was born on March 9, 1952, the son of Weldon and Luzon (Burns) Murphy in Davis County, Iowa.

Randy attended Davis County High School and graduated with the Class of 1970.

Early on Randy worked at Willcoxen Transport in Bloomfield, Iowa until taking a job at Wertz Manufacturing in Bloomfield. Later he took a job at Foodliner in Eddyville, retiring in 2012 after 26 years.

He is survived by his significant other, Lorrie Murphy; his children, Brandon Murphy of New Sharon and Cheyanne (& Clinton) Wallace of Pleasantville; 6 grandchildren: Victoria Murphy, Vanessa Murphy, Griffin Wallace, Braxton Murphy, Cora Wallace and Guthrie Wallace; his siblings: Sherry (& Burl) Pierce of Des Moines, Karen Willcoxen of Hemmet, CA., and Judy Melzer of Sublette, IL. He is also survived by a nephew and 2 nieces as well as several cousins and friends.

Randy is preceded in death by his parents; and two brother-in-laws, Ron Melzer and Dean Willcoxson.

As was Randy’s wish, his body has been cremated and a private family service will be held at a later date. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
