NASCAR Nationwide Series ‘Dash 4 Cash’, Tight Points Battle, Double-Duty Drivers Provide Backdrop for Iowa Speedway’s Biggest Event Weekend

NEWTON, Iowa – August 2, 2012 – The ‘Dash 4 Cash’, an $100,000 incentive program for full-time NASCAR Nationwide Series drivers who qualify and finish first in selected races, will take center stage during the ‘U.S Cellular 250 presented by the Enlist™ Weed Control System’ on Saturday night, August 4. Four drivers: Austin Dillon, Ricky Stenhouse Jr., Sam Hornish Jr., and Des Moines native Michael Annett; along with four lucky fan sweepstakes winners, will all have a chance at taking home a $100,000 prize.

Doug Fritz, CEO of Iowa Speedway, says this program might add some extra sparks to the track’s biggest race of the year on Saturday evening.

“These types of programs are really exciting for the fans in the stands,” says Fritz. “For $100,000, drivers just may use their bumper throughout the race to get into position to win the ‘Dash 4 Cash’ race within a race. We are very excited that a fan will also take $100,000 home with them Saturday.”

The 2012 NASCAR Nationwide Series has one of the tightest championship points battles in the Series’ history. The top four drivers in the standings are only separated by a margin of 28 points, with the top two, Austin Dillon and Elliott Sadler, separated but the slimmest of margins – one point.

Also in the lineup Saturday will be plenty of double-duty drivers. Some will be racing in the ‘Pork Be Inspired 150’ NASCAR K&N Pro Series race and some will be coming in from the Cup Series race in Pocono.

“Kurt Busch and Sam Hornish Jr. will both be contending on Sunday at the Cup race in Pocono, so we are very excited to have them in the field for our biggest race of the year,” noted Fritz. “Plus, we have guys like Brett Moffitt, Darrell Wallace Jr., and Ryan Blaney who will be doing the ‘double’ at Iowa Speedway.”

Tickets for the ‘U.S. Cellular 250 presented by the Enlist ™ Weed Control System’ NASCAR Nationwide Series on Saturday, August 4 start at $55, while tickets to the Friday, August 3, NASCAR K&N Pro Series ‘Pork Be Inspired 150’ race start at $20. Tickets to both events are available online at www.iowaspeedway.com, or by calling 1-866-RUSTY-GO (787-8946).
