Penn Central Railroad Club
You can still hear the clanging of the bells, the the clatter of the wheels as they move along the track. These days it’s usually on a much smaller scale then the days gone by. But the spirit of those times, and the joy of that first Lionel Train all those years ago.
P.C.M.R. got it’s start in 2002 to help promote the hobby of model railroading to the Oskaloosa area.
They built a premier HO scale display layout having prototypical train operations with many scenic details to make it feel like a small town rural area. The club added an O scale and lego layouts in 2007.
The club encourages visitors to stop by the 2nd and 4th Saturday of the month from 10 am to 2 pm. You might find yourself interested enough to want to learn about it more. Don’t worry if you seem overwhelmed at first by trying to learn it all. By joining them, you learn from the experience of your fellow club member. Even if just stopping by, never be afraid to ask questions. As with most things is life, learning comes from doing, and the real secret according to the veterans is to just “jump in and get your feet wet”.
Stop by on the days they are open to the public, or write to Penn Central Model Railroad Club 200 High Ave. West Oskaloosa, Ia 52577 or stop by Wood N Stuff located in the Penn Central Mall or by phone at 641.673.4757 for more information.
