Patricia Lowry, 80, of Oskaloosa, passed away Wednesday, October 26, 2022, at the Mahaska Health Hospice Serenity House in Oskaloosa. Patricia “Pat” Ann Lowry, daughter of Ray C. Sr. and Mary Marie (Johnson) Allbee, was born June 11, 1942, in Grinnell, Iowa.
Pat was a 1960 graduate of Grinnell High School.
Pat loved to roller skate, and it was at the rink that she met her future husband, Charles “Chuck” Lowry.
Pat and Chuck married on November 6, 1960, at the First Presbyterian Church in Grinnell. They made their home briefly in Oskaloosa before Chuck was drafted into the Army and stationed at Fort Carson, CO. Pat soon joined him there, and their first son, Bill, was born in Colorado. After Chuck finished his term, they returned to Oskaloosa.
While her sons were young, Pat stayed home with them, helped at their school and served in the P.T.A. In 1975, Pat was hired by Pella Corp. She initially worked as a key-punch operator, but with the advances in technology transitioned to work in the Information Technology Department. Pat worked the night shift and had many years of perfect attendance. After her retirement, Pat worked at the Nelson Pioneer Farm, ensuring it was always clean and ready for visitors.
Pat was a true Energizer Bunny because of her endless ambition and energy. She and Chuck continued their love of roller skating long into their marriage. Pat belonged to the Red Hat Club, was an American Legion Auxiliary member, volunteered at Northern Mahaska in the social areas, and served as a caretaker for many in need. She wore many hats over the years, but her favorite by far was the one of grandmother and her grandchildren were the light of her life.
Her family includes her sons and their wives: Rick & Annie Lowry of Indianola and their children: Spencer (& Lauren) Lowry and son, Atticus, and Parker, Olivia and Chandler Lowry; and Kevin & Kim Lowry of Oskaloosa and their children: Jordan (& Cortney) Lowry and Collin Lowry. She is also survived by her siblings and their families: a sister, Sandy (& Bob) Locker of Fridley, MN; and a brother, Ray Jr. (& Rose Mary) Allbee of Lynnville, IA.
In addition to her parents and husband, Chuck, Pat was preceded in death by her son, Bill; and a brother, Larry Allbee.
Funeral services for Pat will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, November 1, 2022, at Langkamp Funeral Chapel, with Rev. Jon Nelson of Central Church officiating.
Burial will be in Forest Cemetery.
Visitation will begin at noon on Monday; the family will greet visitors from 5-7 p.m.
