Outstanding weather amongst all the rain brought near 700 athletes to the Lacey Recreation Complex last Saturday. Cool and perfect for playing, the Mahaska County Soccer Club’s youth soccer and the Oskaloosa High School girls softball tournaments were well attended by over 2000 fans. With 41 Osky and regional youth soccer teams, stretched from the stadium and all across the grass, and 20 girls softball teams across the street at the 5-plex for High School softball, fans were everywhere and excitement was high! “It’s going great, just great!” was the response from softball coach Jay Harms and the same was said from the soccer when asked about their events. Well hosted by the organizations, pleased patrons, and lots of competition, the day was a definite success for all involved. The soccer tournament ended the season for youth soccer though some will compete in the upcoming Iowa games and High school soccer will host a second tournament at the Complex June 15th.
