OSKY WRESTLERS COMPETE SHORT-HANDED IN HOME TRIANGULAR
OSKALOOSA — The Oskaloosa boys wrestling team competed Thursday night at home in a triangular against Ankeny and Dallas Center-Grimes. The Indians were down two starters due to sickness but still competed well against two much larger schools.
Oskaloosa lost both duals on the night.
In the dual against Dallas Center-Grimes, Oskaloosa scored 24 team points while DCG finished with 53. The Indians picked up wins from Emmett Dye at 106, Hunter Smith at 126, Trevin Griffin at 150, and Parker Jordan at 215. Dye won by fall in 5:58. Smith earned a quick pin in 0:45. Griffin won by fall in 2:54, and Jordan picked up a fall in 4:41.
Against Ankeny, Oskaloosa again scored 24 team points, while Ankeny finished with 47. Oskaloosa winners included Sam Nelson at 120, Jett Stock at 138, Misael Gonzales at 144, Trevin Griffin at 150, Matthew Phillips at 165, Brock Beerbower at 190, Parker Jordan at 215, and Kyron Smith at 285. Nelson won by technical fall, 18-2. Stock earned a fall in 3:09. Gonzales won by technical fall, 17-2. Griffin won by fall in 0:57. Phillips won by fall in 0:38. Beerbower won by major decision, 11-1. Jordan won by decision, 8-5. Smith won by ultimate tiebreaker, 12-10.
Oskaloosa will wrestle again Saturday at the North Mahaska Invitational and then returns home Tuesday for a quad.
