Oskaloosa-YMCA Youth Football Tryouts Held at the Lacey Recreation Complex

Put down the bats and pick up the shoulder pads… football season approaches at the Lacey Recreation Complex! As baseball draws to an end, devoted parents, coaches, and players could be found at the Lacey Complex on Tuesday and Thursday for the Mahaska County YMCA -Oskaloosa Football League youth football tryouts. The youth football league offers a flag division for grades 1-2 and a tackle division for 3-4/5-6 graders. Near 200 youth showed up for these two days of try-outs.”The results were just about split dead on, so just over 60 kids per age level,” said Quentin Plate President of the th league. First through fourth grade divisions hold games on Saturdays at the Lacey Recreation Complex but 5th-6th grade division includes some traveling competitions with surrounding community teams. The youth football season begins the weekend after Labor Day.
