The Oskaloosa Shooting Team was back in action after a long winter break this past weekend in Waukee, IA at their first Trap Shooting competition. After just a few weeks of practice to get back into the swing of things, the team did a great job and seemed to be focused and on a mission to start where they left off. The tournament consisted of teams from DMACC, Centerville, Oskaloosa and CAM school districts.
The team started the day with some of the younger team members, the Intermediate
Advanced shooters. The squad of Jacob Mason, Colin Fiechtner, Kenny Settimi, Alex Brittain and Ethan Herr ended up tied for 1st place with the squad of Joseph Heimroth, Brayden VanKampen, Andrew Appleget, Aaron Vos and Alan Carmichael.
Next on the line was the Varsity shooter’s. The squad of Conrad Cunningham, Dalton Kraber, Kameron VanHulzen, Lauren Herr and Mason Shrader ended up taking the top spot with a total combined score of 208. A very good squad from DMACC took second with a score of 205 and the Oskaloosa squad of Lake Heaton, Cole Waite, Taner De Jong, Courtney Fiechtner and Jason Herr took 3rd place with a score of 202. Team member Taner De Jong ended up shooting his personal best of 48/50 to be the teams high shooter of the day!
Following the Varsity was the team’s youngest shooters, the rookies. Squad members Dominic Purdum, Cade Kelderman, Cody Scholtus, Aby Thompson and Jaxon Waite did a tremendous job on the line showing they got what it takes to be a future top notch shooter! Dominic Purdum ended up taking 2nd place as individual rookie.

All of the Oskaloosa Shooting Team members did a GREAT job and are off to a great start this season!
The team is in action again this Friday 4/10/2015 at their home range out at the Mahaska County Izaak Walton League when they will host a 5 stand shoot under the lights.
