OSKALOOSA SCHOOL DISTRICT RECOGNIZES BOARD MEMBERS
Oskaloosa, Iowa – The Oskaloosa Community School District is joining with other communities throughout Iowa this spring to honor its elected school board members during Iowa School Board Recognition Week May 6-11. This year’s theme – “School Boards: Sowing the Seeds of Success” – recognizes that Iowa’s volunteer school board members are providing leadership, through responsibilities ranging from strong financial stewardship to ensuring high-quality curriculum, to make sure all students are prepared to “take on the world” when they graduate.
Serving on the local school board are Susan Boxler, Laurie Fiscella, Dr. Anne Whitis, Lin Yoder, Charlie Comfort, Nik Rule, and Tom Richardson.
“These men and women volunteer countless hours of unpaid time to provide the best possible education for our students, and we want to recognize that in this community,” said Superintendent Russell Reiter, Oskaloosa Community School District. “As your elected leaders, they represent you in their continuing commitment to local citizen control and decision-making for our public schools. Too often the efforts of school board members go unrecognized and unrewarded, so let us take this opportunity to thank them for their service.”
“Even though we are making a special effort in May to show appreciation for our school board members, we recognize their contributions reflect a year-long effort on their part,” said Reiter. “They are dedicated individuals who are committed to improving student achievement and are striving for the best for all of our students.”
