The Oskaloosa Community School District Board of Directors has experienced another unexpected change in its membership. Board member Clint O’Day tendered his resignation late Monday night, submitting an email to the board president formally stepping down from his position effective immediately.

O’Day’s message, sent at 10:27 p.m. on October 20, expressed appreciation for the opportunity to serve the district and community, describing his first three years on the board as “fantastic” and filled with “great experiences.” He cited the district’s “incredible staff and administrators” and “awesome students” as highlights of his tenure.

His resignation marks the second departure from the Oskaloosa School Board this year, following several months of heightened public scrutiny over transparency, budget management, and the delayed evaluation of the superintendent.

O’Day’s exit comes during a period of transition and tension within district governance. Recent board meetings have been marked by contentious debate over fiscal oversight and administrative accountability, with multiple community members calling for stronger leadership continuity. The timing of his resignation — less than a month before the board’s scheduled evaluation of the superintendent — adds further uncertainty to an already challenging stretch for the district.

In his letter, O’Day apologized if his resignation created added pressure for his fellow board members. No specific reason for his decision was included in the message.

This latest resignation continues a year of turnover and turbulence for the Oskaloosa Community School District — a district facing difficult questions about leadership stability, governance, and public trust.
