Oskaloosa JV Boys Take On A Tough Norwalk Team
by Jakob Hasley
The JV boys basketball team took on a tough Norwalk squad on Friday the 13th. Osky dug themselves into a big hole early, as Norwalk could not miss from behind the arc, and turnovers were frequent. After the first quarter it was already 22-8, but the Indians did not let that mistake turn into something that would last the whole game. The next quarter the Indians pulled it together defensively, only allowing 9 points total while scoring 6 themselves. It was 14-31 at the half. This defensive effort would last the rest of the game, although Norwalk would get a few shots due to the skill level they had, and a few more turnovers, but I was proud of our ability to play better after a bad first quarter. The final score was 56-31 in favor of the warriors. I do not believe in moral victories, but I feel like these young men took a positive step forward in this game. We realized how good we can be if we focus on the little things defensively, and if we take care of the ball on offense. I look forward to seeing the progress moving as we move toward the second half of this season.
