Oskaloosa Indoor Sports Complex Has a New Home

Charlie Bandstra breaks bat at USSSA scrimmage night

Oskaloosa, Iowa – For the past twelve months, the Oskaloosa Indoor Sports Complex (OISC) has been without a home. And the youth of Oskaloosa and surrounding communities have greatly missed having an indoor practice facility for baseball and softball. But that is all about to change! On October 1, OISC will open its doors once again in a recently-completed building at 415 13th Ave East in Oskaloosa.

“This facility was built specifically for the purpose of housing an indoor practice complex,” stated Doug DeKock, President of OISC. The building is 6,700 square feet in size, and will include a regulation batting cage, three pitching lanes, a defensive drills station, and three soft-toss hitting stations. With the exception of the batting cage, the complex can be quickly reconfigured for other training activities such as fitness and agility drills.

“As our Lightning USSSA baseball team travels around the state participating in tournaments each year, one common denominator we see with all the high-caliber teams is their access to an indoor training facility. This complex now gives our softball and baseball programs a much-needed boost for developing good fundamentals throughout the year. We are extremely fortunate to have this new facility here in Oskaloosa,” commented DeKock.

Annual individual and family memberships are available for $125 and $225 respectively. In addition, team memberships are available for an organized team at a rate of $1,100. Each organized team membership will have the opportunity to schedule a 1 ½ hour practice session per week.

Membership forms are now available at Swim’s Sporting Goods or by contacting DeKock at 641-569-0363. The club will be open to members 7am – 10pm, seven days a week, starting October 1.
