Oskaloosa, Iowa – The Oskaloosa Friday After Five committee has been preparing since last year for the 2012 season and they have a great line up of entertainment scheduled. The event takes place each Friday from 5 – 8 pm on the east side of the Oskaloosa square. Food and drinks are available. The cost to get into the beverage garden area is $5.00 and you must be at least 21 years of age. Many families choose to bring their lawn chairs and sit in the city park and listen to the bands perform.
The 9th year of Friday After Five gets underway Friday, June 1st and will feature the band Fatal Addiction. This will be the fourth year in a row that Fatal Addiction has rocked the Friday After Five stage. Mr.. Taco will be on hand to serve up some great food.
Friday June 8th will feature the return of Small Town Superheroes. Small Town Superheroes describes their sound as classic rock roots with a sultry southern vibe. Hy-Vee will be the food vendor.
Friday June 15th will be another great night as the band Gimikk makes their fourth appearance at Friday After Five. Gimikk has been playing in the Des Moines and Central Iowa area for 9 years and with their high-energy performance and amazing music skills, they have been dubbed as “The Best Party Band in Des Moines”. Papa Murphy’s will be serving up the food.
Friday June 22nd will mark the debut appearance of the Mangini Brothers band on the Friday After Five stage. The Mangini Brothers are one of the top new bands in the area and will play just about anything. From Johnny Rivers to Bob Marley to the B-52’s, they cover it all. Hy-Vee will return as the food vendor for the evening.
The 2012 Friday After Five event will conclude on Friday June 29th with one of Iowa’s top bands, Standing Hampton. Standing Hampton has performed every year at the Oskaloosa Friday After Five event and draw huge crowds wherever they play. Capturing the sound and magic of the glory days of classic rock, Standing Hampton performs the best tunes of the 70’s, 80’s and beyond. Food will be served by the Cattleman’s Association.
