Oskaloosa Bowlers Close Regular Season with Wins on Senior Recognition Day

The Oskaloosa boys and girls bowling teams closed out their regular season at home with a pair of wins during Senior Recognition Day. The event celebrated the senior athletes while both teams finished strong heading into postseason competition.

The Oskaloosa boys stayed undefeated and secured back-to-back unbeaten regular seasons. Seniors Reuben Chilcote and Cale Armbruster competed on varsity during the recognition meet. Armbruster rolled a 190 game while Chilcote added a 163. Fellow senior Cole VanderWal led the boys with a 255 and 239 for the top two-game series of 494. Senior Keagan Pierson followed with games of 250 and 226 for a 476 series, the second-highest total of the day.

The Oskaloosa girls improved to 7-2 on the season with their win. The senior group led the scoring, with Sidney Thompson posting a 350 two-game series and Regan Abrahamson finishing with a 318 series. The girls are preparing for their state qualifying meet and are aiming to return to the team state finals for a third straight year. The district tournament takes place the next day, and the team is focused on continuing its postseason run.

Oskaloosa’s JV boys also had a strong performance, defeating Knoxville’s varsity team and finishing close behind Oskaloosa’s varsity total. Freshman Caeden Walraven recorded his best two-game series of the season with a 452 and rolled a season-high 233 game. Freshman Jace Armbruster continued a consistent stretch to end the year, finishing with a 396 two-game series and a high game of 211.

The Indians now shift their attention to district competition as both programs look to extend their seasons into the state tournament.
