Optimists Students of the Second Trimester

The Oskaloosa Optimist Club honored Shaylee Smith and Nick Reiter with these plaques Wednesday morning.
Oskaloosa Optimist Club members honored two seventh grade students as their Students of Trimester recently. The students, Shaylee Smith and Nick Reiter, were selected from several nominated students.
Oskaloosa Middle School Principal Andy Hotek, who also serves as the project chair, made the presentation to the students. Smith and Reiter were feted at a breakfast meeting at Smokey Row March with family and club members in attendance.
“These two are another example of the students we have at the middle school,” said Hotek. “It is always tough because we have so many deserving students. Nick and Shaylee are good students and involved in several activities in and out of school.”
Club president Andrea Brownlee joined Hotek making the plaque presentations and introducing the students.
The Oskaloosa Optimist Club is a youth-serving organization. They meet at Smokey Row each Wednesday at 7 a.m.
