Oskaloosa, Iowa – Helping kids have all of the supplies needed for school has been the main goal of ‘Operation Backpack’ since it’s inception. This year, with the addition of ‘Stuff the Bus’, more school supplies will be available for students throughout the year.

Laurie Fiscella, Vice President of the Oskaloosa School Board, was one of four school board members present to help fill backpacks. She explained why the members where there to help fill backpacks. “I think it’s just another opportunity to give back to the community.”

“For us to contribute our time shows appreciation to all the folks that contributed these wonderful items to our students.”

Fiscella explained that with some new individuals on the School Board, “I think it’s just a good way for us to get out in the community. People get to know some of the newer ones and to build those relationships.”

Tom Richardson, Oskaloosa School Board member added, “A lot of people on the board do different community projects on their own or with other groups?” Richardson added that, “it’s great to continue to do that as well” about being able to do projects with the board.
