OPD Investigating Stabbing
An Oskaloosa Police Department Press Release
On September 24th, 2019 at approximately 11:18 p.m., members of the Oskaloosa Police Department and Mahaska County Sheriff’s Department were called to the 900 block of South B St in reference to an unknown problem. Upon arrival, Officers located two adults and one infant child in the house. One of the adults had been stabbed in the chest. It was later determined that there had been a domestic abuse incident leading up to the stabbing.
The suspect was identified as Colton Houston, 29 years of age. He was transported to a local hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries. On Thursday, September 26th, Houston was released from the hospital and lodged in the Mahaska County Jail in lieu of bond. Charges include: Burglary 1st, Domestic Abuse Assault, Stalking in Violation of a No Contact Order, Violation of a No Contact Order, and Assault on a Police Officer.
Members of the Oskaloosa Police Department were assisted in this investigation by members of the Mahaska County Sheriff’s Department, Mahaska County Sheriff’s Reserve Unit, and Mahaska Health Partnership.
A criminal charge is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
