One Nation Under God

We look this week at the last two attributes of God in this series. So far, we have looked into His Word at many attributes such as God’s eternal nature, His omnipotence, He is the essence of good, and He is near. Lastly we look today at the essence of Love.

In 1 John 4:7-8 it says, “7 Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God. 8 Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love.” God’s demonstration of this love was manifested is the character and nature of God in John 3:16, ” 16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.”

Because God is love, those who claim the mantle of the Christian faith must also love. 1 John 4:11 “Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. 12No one has ever seen God; if we love one another, God abides in us and his love is perfected in us.”

Finally, God is a holy God. Leviticus 19:2, ‘“Speak to all the congregation of the people of Israel and say to them,You shall be holy, for I the LORD your God am holy.” He is pure and separate. He is one of a kind. He is the only, the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end.
