OMS XC Wins Title At Mt. Pleasant

It was a beautiful night for a cross country meet at Mt Pleasant on Thursday, September 22nd.
The boys team brought home the team championship for the second meet in a row!! In the large team race Joel Pogany took second place, Lane Smith was 4th, Blake Frame was 6th, Micah VanEe was 8th and Matthew Phillips was 9th.
All of the boys showed improvement from the Fairfield meet which was also a 2 mile race and ALL 8th grade boys improved on their times from last year’s Mt. Pleasant meet!!
Joel, Lane, Blake, Micah, Matthew and Silas all made the Top 10 for the Mt. Pleasant meet and they also ALL are now in the Top 10, 2 mile distance.
The girls also had a great night finishing second as a team.
Ella Walter was the champion of the large team meet. Sabrina Frost also finished in the top 10 of the large teams.
All 7 girls improved their 2 mile time from the Fairfield meet and all of the 8th graders improved their times from their 7th grade year!!
Ella moved to the top time on the Mt. Pleasant top 10!! Along with Sabrina, Lily and Whitney all breaking into the top 10!
Ella, Sabrina, Whitney and Lily all are now in the top 10 for the 2 mile distance!
**All middle school athletes from both classes ran together, but the meet was scored in two classes

To say I am proud of these runners is an understatement. They are running hard in practice and it is paying off in the meets.
The team will be back in action next Tuesday at Knoxville at Pine Knolls Golf Club. The girls will run at 4:15 with the boys to follow at 4:35.
