OMS Cross Country Teams Shine at Centerville Meet, Girls Finish 3rd, Boys 4th
The middle school cross country teams participated in a meet in Centerville on October 8, 2024, marking the first time this event was held at the new two-mile course. The weather was favorable, with temperatures in the mid-70s.
The girls’ team performed strongly, finishing third overall. Preslie Bryan led the team with a 12th-place finish, clocking a time of 15:16.1. Payton Clark followed closely in 14th place with a time of 15:23, while Hazel Adam rounded out the top 18 with a time of 15:43.5.
On the boys’ side, Kylor Andersen-McVay took the lead for his team, finishing 18th with a time of 14:27. Kellen Kauzlarich placed 22nd with a time of 14:34, and Noah Ruckman secured 24th place with a time of 14:42, helping the team to a 4th place overall finish.
Coach Betsy Luck expressed pride in both teams’ performances on this challenging new course, noting that it was a valuable experience ahead of their upcoming Little Hawkeye Conference meet in Newton next Monday, October 14.
