OHS Girls Track Break Personal Records

by Betsy Luck

The team came home with two first place finishes at the very tough Little Hawkeye Conference Championship which were held at Pella High School on Tuesday night.

Maleah Walker matched her season best in the long jump of 17-10 in her first place finish. It was a great jump by Maleah and sets her up for success at the district track meet next week. The 4×400 relay of Ryleigh Wilken, Hannah Quang, Evelyn Adam and Tierney Carter brought home the gold with a time of 4:09.46. These girls are really clicking in this relay, it was a great way to end the meet with a win.

Another highlight on the night was Hannah Quang who broke into the All-time Top 10 list in the 100m hurdles running her way to the eighth spot on the list with a time of 15.68. She moved past Lynn Shilling (1984) and Joi Converse (1980). She is also the first 33″ hurdle height to make the top 10 list.

Other personal records set on the night:
Emmalee Wells-Stout in the 400 m hurdles
Rees Campbell in BOTH the shot and disc
Evelyn Adam with a gutsy run in a windy 3000 meter
Alison Arellano in the 100 m dash
Sarah Phillips in the 200 m dash
Cora Snakenberg in the discus
Gabby Stropes in the 100 m dash

The team is back in action at the Norwalk quad on Thursday.
