Senator Grassley Offers Up Questions For Obama Visit To Oskaloosa

Senator Chuck Grassley was the keynote speaker in Albia Tuesday night at a fundraiser for Ken Rozenboom and Larry Sheets.

Oskaloosa, Iowa – In a press release from the Obama campaign outlining his plans next week in Iowa.

Obama for America announced today that President Obama will take a three-day tour of Iowa next week. On Monday, August 13, the President will travel to Council Bluffs, and Boone for campaign events. On Tuesday, August 14, he will hold campaign events in Oskaloosa, Marshalltown and Waterloo. On Wednesday, August 15, First Lady Michelle Obama will join President Obama for campaign events in Dubuque and Davenport.

Additional details on the President’s campaign events are forthcoming.

CRI (Communication Research Institute) is reporting that the time frame for the visit will be from 11:00 to 1:00 pm. No location has been announced at this point.

Senator Chuck Grassley was in Albia at a Republican fundraiser for Ken Rozenboom and Larry Sheets and offered a few questions to be asked of the President.

Fast and Furious is one topic Grassley suggested that the President answer questions about, as well as the recent immigration changes he recently adopted.

Grassley believes that one of the biggest concerns for voters during this election cycle is “if we’re going to have the biggest tax increase in the history of the country at the end of the year.” This has been described by some as the fiscal cliff, as tax policies currently in place are set to expire at the end of December.

Grassley also noted the Simpson Bowles debt reduction plan that was a bi-partisan committee that was formed to look at ways of reducing the deficit. The commission consisted of 5 Democrats and 5 Republicans along with an Independent. The group voted in majority, but failed to vote in a super majority fashion that would have sent their plan on to congress.

Grassley also questioned President Obama, “Why isn’t he intervening in Syria like he did in Libya?”

The announcement of Obama’s visit came on the same day that Presidential Candidate Mitt Romney was in Des Moines at a fundraiser where it’s said he raised a record 1.8 million dollars for his campaign.

Romney has been having trouble motivating the Republican party, as was evidenced by the chatter at a fundraiser to help support two local Republicans in the quest for office. They point towards his statements that he’s “Running as a conservative” and is not really a conservative.

Real Clear Politics average poll has Obama ahead of Romney 47.6% to 44.1% in their recent compilation of various national polls.

It is unknown at this time if the President will be taking any questions, and even what venue he will be at during his time in Oskaloosa. Details should be coming to light very soon about the President’s campaign stop in the next few days.
