NO. 7 WARRIORS SECURE THIRD STRAIGHT SWEEP

McCook, NE – No. 7 Indian Hills Volleyball secured its third consecutive sweep with a 3-0 win over McCook Community College (NE) on the opening night of the McCook Invitational. The Warriors move to 3-3 overall on the year.

The Warriors used a thrilling open set victory to drop the Indians with a 33-31 win to set the tone for the night. Indian Hills rolled to a 25-20 set two victory before closing out the sweep with a 25-17 victory in set three. The Warriors move to 2-0 all-time vs. the Indians. In each of the two meetings vs. McCook, the Warriors have now seen a set go at least 29 points after the Warriors dropped McCook 29-27 in last year’s meeting in the fourth set.

Freshman Farah Sherif (Alexandria, Egypt/EGC) posted 16 kills on 27 attempts to lead the Warriors with a .444 hitting percentage. Sophomore Piper Nelson (Atkins, IA/Benton) tallied 11 kills while freshman Amelia Polojanska (Gizycko, Poland/X Liceum Ogólnokształcące Mistrzostwa Sportowego), making her first start of the year, tallied 10 kills on 18 attempts.

As a team, the Warriors posted a .370 hitting percentage on the night, the team’s top mark since recording a .534 clip against Malcolm X Community College (IL) on November 4, 2023.

Ana Luiza Caminha Matos (Betim, Brazil/Augusto de Lima) continued to thrive as the team’s primary setter as the sophomore tallied a career-high 49 assists. Luiza added three kills, five digs, and a pair of block assists to fill the stat sheet.

Sophomore Asialin Powell (Des Moines, IA/Roosevelt) tallied a team-high 17 digs while fellow sophomore Luana Silva Ferreira (Guimaraes, Portgual/Martins Sarmento) posted five total blocks, including two solo stops in the win.

The Warriors return to action at the McCook Invitational Friday afternoon with mathups vs. North Central Texas College at 12:00 PM and Butler Community College (KS) at 6:00 PM. The Warriors wrap up play Saturday morning at 11:00 AM vs. Seward County Community College (KS).
