October 25, 2025

Godfrey, IL – Arnicka Louis (Castries, Saint Lucia/Sir Ira Simmons) provided the heroics for No. 10 Indian Hills Women’s Soccer as the sophomore buried the golden goal in overtime to push the Warriors into the second round of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Central District Championship on Friday. The Warriors defeated Illinois Central Community College 1-0 in the opening round.

Playing in its first overtime match of the year, the Warriors relied on its top goal scorer to advance in postseason play. Sophomore Mia Garza (Ottumwa, IA/Ottumwa) sent a strike off the cross bar that caromed off the pipe to find an open Louis in front of the net. The sophomore buried her first touch into the back of the net 1:49 into the overtime session.

The Warriors will now move on to play tournament host Lewis & Clark Community College at 12:00 PM on Sunday afternoon in Godfrey, IL. Indian Hills defeated Lewis & Clark, the top seed out of NJCAA Region 24, 4-1 in Godfrey back on September 12.

Louis’ goal was the sophomore’s 20th of the year, fifth-most in a single season in school history. The game-winner was Louis’ ninth of her career, second-most in program history. Louis has now posted the third-most goals and third-most points (50) in the NJCAA this year.

Friday’s affair saw the Warriors dominate the Cougars through a majority of the match. Indian Hills tallied 22 shots on the day, including 14 on net. Despite the advantage, the Warriors and Cougars battled through a scoreless 90 minutes to set the stage for Louis’ heroic effort.

Freshman keeper Annabelle Combes (Valence, France/Tezenas du Montcel) stopped a pair of shots in net to pitch the complete game shutout for the Warriors. Combes has now played a part in 10 shutouts on the year, tied for the most in program history while the team’s 11 clean sheets this year rank second all-time.

Sunday’s matchup with the Trailblazers can be seen live on GoHillsTV. The winner will advance to the NJCAA Central District Championship Semifinal round on Saturday, November 1.
