Niki Hartman, 27 of Barnes City, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday morning, April 27, 2021 at her home in Barnes City. Nicolette “Niki” Ann Hartman was born Friday, January 7, 1994 at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics in Iowa City and was baptized on January 24, 2004 at the Grinnell Church of Christ.

Niki attended North Mahaska High School in New Sharon where she played trumpet in the marching band. Later she would be employed by the Victor Rest Area.

Niki was known as a loving, caring person always willing to help others. Niki also wrote poems and sent funny pictures or wrote sayings to brighten someone’s day. In her spare time, she enjoyed spending time with family and friends, growing sunflowers of all kinds, collecting pig memorabilia and anything zombie. She also enjoyed making Tik Tok videos of her dog, Junior and rescue cat, Nyx.

Those left to honor her memory are her mother, Carol Moore of Barnes City; paternal grandmother, Carolyn Hartman of Fairfield; aunts and uncles: John Moore and Vicki Foreman of Montezuma, Dennis and Donna State of Rhodes, Christy Lamb of Grinnell, David and Debbie McQuilkin of Johnston, Gene and Barb Davis of Barnes City, Lloyd Hartman of Des Moines, Jeff Hartman of Fairfield; and many other cousins, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, G. and L. Lucille Blakley; maternal grandparents, James and Jo Anne Moore; an aunt, Mary Ann Moore; two uncles, James Moore Jr. and Scotty Moore and a half-brother, Nicolas Parker Pitts.
