OSKALOOSA, IA — Neil Simon’s hilarious romantic comedy, Barefoot in the Park, is at the George Daily Auditorium on Thursday, February 16 at 7:30 p.m.!

Corie and Paul Bratter are newlyweds living in New York City. Corie is an impulsive, independent free spirit while Paul is a levelheaded, conservative young lawyer. As the honeymoon ends and reality set in, the bliss of marriage turns to comical discord. Corie’s mother arrives as an unexpected guest, and their weird neighbor, the “Bluebeard of 48th Street,” makes everything even more complicated. In the midst of all the craziness and misunderstanding, the young couple has to figure out how to live together. Barefoot in the Park is the 10th longest-running play in Broadway history, full of warmth and hilarity.

The show is performed by the Montana Repertory Theatre based out of Missoula, Montana. The George Daily Auditorium has presented several shows from Montana Rep throughout the years, including To Kill A Mockingbird, Biloxi Blues, Lost in Yonkers, and Of Mice and Men.

There will be an optional post-show Q&A where audience members will be able to talk to the cast.

While the performers will be from Montana, most of the crew will be local volunteers. They will work on carpentry, lights, sound, rigging, and more to help set up the show – and some of the crew will be students from Oskaloosa High School and William Penn University.

“In small towns it’s such a unique opportunity to be able to work with professional crews for these productions,” said Andy McGuire, Education Director. “We say it all the time that these are the same productions you can see in all the big cities, but it never ceases to amaze me that it’s true and these high schoolers can work with people who travel the country or even the world doing this professionally.”

Barefoot in the Park is part of the 20th season at the George Daily Auditorium. The first professional show the auditorium brought to Oskaloosa was the Dixie Power Trio in the fall of 1997. Over twenty seasons, the auditorium has presented more than 200 professional performances of a variety of genres.

Barefoot in the Park will be at the George Daily Auditorium on Thursday, February 16 at 7:30 p.m.! Tickets cost $25 for adults and $10 for students, and are available by calling (641) 672-0799, online at www.georgedaily.org, or at the George Daily Auditorium box office. This performance is sponsored by Musco Lighting. This presentation is supported by the Arts Midwest Touring Fund, a program of Arts Midwest that is funded by the National Endowment for the Arts, with additional contributions from the Iowa Arts Council and the Crane Group.
