Miss Iowa Speedway Finalists Announced
2012 Speedway Queen Will Be Chosen on May 19
NEWTON, IA – May 16 – The three finalists for Miss Iowa Speedway 2012 and the Miss Iowa Speedway Scholarship are Allison Buol, from Marion, IA; Lacey Hamlett, from Cedar Rapids, IA; and Whitney Johnson, from Britt, IA. All three applicants are eligible for the $1,500 scholarship, which may be applied towards any accredited secondary education facility for the school year 2012-2013.
Debb Smith, director of the Iowa Speedway Foundation, says this program provides a direct, positive impact on the futures of all three applicants.
“Post high school education can be very beneficial for all who choose that path, but the requirements are also very rigorous,” says Smith. “We are very proud of the fact, by way of this program, we can help take some of the burden off.”
Judges from this year’s panel included Debb Smith, Iowa Speedway Foundation Director; Linda Bacon, Jasper County Convention and Visitor Board Executive Director; Karen Knight, Sponsor Representative, and Allison Freel, 2011 Miss Iowa Speedway.
