MEN’S TRACK SHINES IN NEBRASKA, IOWA CITY

Ottumwa, IA – The Indian Hills Men’s Track & Field squad took on a pair of events over the weekend in its first appearance of the 2025 season. The Warriors returned to action at both the Nebraska Graduate Classic in Lincoln, NE and the Hawkeye Invitational in Iowa City, IA.

The Warriors sent a series of sprinters and middle distance competitors to Nebraska for the Graduate Classic on the University of Nebraska campus. Freshman Domictress Robinson (Jacksonville, FL/Jean Ribault) starred in a pair of events for the Warriors, taking the individual title in the men’s 200-meter dash with a time of 21.29, the sixth-fastest time in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) this season. Robinson added a third-place showing in the men’s 60-meter dash with a mark of 6.83.

Along with Robinson’s effort in the 200m, the Warriors saw a pair of individuals earn a top-eight finish. Freshman Supreme Muhammad (Rockford, IL/Winnebago) placed third overall with a time of 21.35 while sophomore Michael Blank (Cedar Rapids, IA/Cedar Rapids Washington) posted a season-best time of 21.80 to place seventh.

Sophomore Cayde de Waal (Brakpan, South Africa/Hoërskool Oosterlig) posted the second-fastest 3,000-meter mark in school history with a time of 8:34.39. de Waal’s mark was good enough for a fifth-place finish and is now the fourth-fastest time in the nation this year.

Freshman Jaquan Coke (Kingston, Jamaica/Kingston College) hit a national qualifying mark in the 1,000-meter run with a time of 2:27.98 to place sixth overall.

On Saturday, de Waal and Coke teamed up with Nichalas Power (Riverton City, Jamaica) in the 800-meter run to take three top-six finishes. Coke placed third overall with a time of 1:52.71 followed by Power in fifth at 1:52.95. de Waal rounded out the event with a sixth-place showing and a time of 1:53.04. All three marks qualified each individual for the upcoming national championships while Power’s time is currently the best mark in the nation.

Back in Iowa City, the Warrior throwers put together a dominant performance at the Hawkeye Invitational. Sophomore Tate Joens (Cedar Rapids, IA/Cedar Rapids Prairie) broke his own school record in the weight throw by more than a full meter, placing fifth overall with a toss of 19.37m. Joens’ mark is now the 11th-best throw in NJCAA history and currently ranks as the top mark in the nation this year.

Sophomore Kaden Banks (Onalaska, WI/Holmen) placed second overall in the shot put, breaking his own school record with a mark of 17.23m which now ranks second in the NJCAA in 2025. Joens followed Banks with a third-place showing after posting a personal-best mark of 16.89 meters, the fourth-best throw in the nation this year.

Freshmen Hadyn Stockdale (Cedar Rapids, IA/Cedar Rapids Prairie) and Alec Rachford (Eldon, IA/Cardinal) added top-seven finishes in the shot put for the Warriors as Stockdale recorded a mark of 14.17m followed by Rachford’s season-best toss of 14.10m.

Freshman Tatum Westercamp (Oskaloosa, IA/Oskaloosa) led the Warriors in the long jump event, posting a season-best mark of 6.16m to place seventh overall.

The Warriors also saw a pair of solid performances in the men’s 60-meter hurdles on Saturday in Iowa City as sophomore Triston Miller (Columbus Junction, IA/Columbus Junction) placed fourth overall with a mark of 7.99 while freshman Harry Momolu (Blackwood, NJ/Fork Union Military Academy) placed seventh with a time of 8.09.

The Warriors are back in action January 24-25 with a pair of events – the Larry Wieczorek Invitational in Iowa City, IA and the Iowa State Cyclone Open in Ames, IA.
