PELLA—Central College has named former all-Iowa Conference player Monica McWilliams as assistant volleyball coach.

McWilliams, a Williamsburg native, was a second-team all-league libero for Simpson College in 2010. She gained academic all-conference distinction as well and was part of the 2009 squad that won the league trophy and advanced to the NCAA Division III tournament.

Prior to Simpson, McWilliams was a two-time all-region pick at Des Moines Area Community College. She was a team co-captain and helped guide the Bears to a league championship and two NJCAA tourneys.

McWilliams spent a season as an assistant coach at Williamsburg High School and over two years coaching for the Johnston Volleyball Club. She was named the 2010 Iowa Volleyball Region junior female coach of the year after leading Johnston to the junior Olympic tournament.

At Central, McWilliams will also serve as intramural director.
