Mary Lee Sanders Mills Jones, 76 of Grinnell passed away Friday morning, February 19, 2021 at the Unity Point Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines. Mary was born on July 7, 1944 to Edgar Charles and Naomi Gilbreaith Sanders at the Montezuma Hospital.

Mary was raised in Montezuma and played basketball for two years and graduated from Montezuma High School in 1962.

On February 14, 1963, Mary was united in marriage to David Mills Jr. To this union Christine Lee and David B. Mills III were born.

On October 11, 1977, Mary was united in marriage to Judson H. Jones in Cook County, IL. The couple made their home in Arlington, Virginia where Mary worked for the US Airways retiring in 2007. They relocated to Grinnell, IA and Mary was employed as a para-educator for Davis Elementary School in Grinnell for five years.

Mary enjoyed spending time with family and attended her grandchildren and great grandchildren’s events. She loved to travel and was a great tour guide when her family went to visit.

Survivors include: her husband, Judson H. Jones of Grinnell; her children, Christine Ealy and David Mills III; six grandchildren; three great grandchildren; her sisters, Phyllis Meredith of Grinnell and Darlene Aalbers of Olympia, WA; and many other relatives and friends.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents and five sisters, Betty Sanders, Esther Riggs, Violet House, Lois Massengale and Eula Fields.

A graveside service will begin at 11:00 am Friday, June 4, 2021 at the Jackson Township Cemetery in Montezuma with a luncheon to follow at the Montezuma Community Hope Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Hospital for Children in St. Louis, MO and may be sent to the Holland-Coble Funeral Home, In Care of Mary Jones, P.O. Box 727, Montezuma, Iowa 50171.
