Oskaloosa–Hardwood star Sarah Martin (Jr., Anthem, Ariz., Boulder Creek HS) was honored for her excellence in the classroom as she was named a 2011-2012 Daktronics-NAIA Division II Women’s Basketball Scholar-Athlete today.

Martin, a first-time honoree, owns a 3.71 Grade Point Average while majoring in physical education. On the court this winter, she averaged 6.8 points, 2.0 rebounds, 3.2 assists, 1.2 steals, and 0.2 blocks.

The NAIA announced that 162 Division II women’ basketball players were awarded the laurel.

To be eligible for the award, athletes must be of at least junior academic standing, maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or above on a 4.0 scale, and have attended the nominating institution for at least one full academic year.
