Mahaska Health Partnership Hospital Auxiliary opens new Gift Shop

MAHASKA COUNTY – The Mahaska Health Partnership Hospital Auxiliary is pleased to announce the opening of Whispering Tree Gifts on the MHP campus.
“We are so excited to introduce this new gift shop to the community,” Hospital Auxiliary Gift Shop Manager Dorothy Vos exclaimed. “This is a new chapter for the Auxiliary.”
A grand opening celebration will be held the week of April 16. “We’re really looking forward to showing off our new gift shop. We’ll have some great door prizes and gift certificates to give away throughout the week,” Vos said.
The Auxiliary has been working to remodel and re-merchandise the Gift Shop since closing the Snack Bar in January. “It was a difficult decision closing the Snack Bar but we are excited for our future,” Vos said. “The planning for products and new technology will put us one step ahead as we anticipate our move into MHP’s new wing in 2013.”
Vos is referring to the 52,000 square foot addition on MHP’s campus that will house Surgical Services, Inpatient Services and the Birthing Center. “MHP is always growing and changing as are the needs of patients,” Vos reflected. “As an Auxiliary committed to fundraising for MHP, we need to change and grow too.”
Whispering Tree Gifts is located on the first floor of the hospital, across from the Birthing Center (entrance #2). “We’ve been located in the same place since 1965,” Vos said.
While their location hasn’t changed, the look and feel of the gift shop certainly has. “Our goal with Whispering Tree Gifts is to provide a nice gift shop with unique, quality items that people are proud to give their loved ones. I encourage people to think of us not only when visiting someone at the hospital but also as a retail outlet when looking for that perfect gift,” Vos stressed.
Whispering Tree Gifts is a 501(c)3 organization, whose mission is to support the healthcare mission of MHP. Proceeds from sales in the gift shop are used to fund the Auxiliary’s philanthropic efforts.
