Mahaska Health Partnership Celebrates National Physical Therapy Month
MAHASKA COUNTY – This October, Mahaska Health Partnership wants you to know the many ways a physical therapist can help improve your overall health and well-being.
Persistent, unrelenting pain is something no one should have to live with. Whether it is low back pain, recovery from an injury or healing after a surgery, a physical therapist can help. Physical therapy is a healthcare profession concerned with improving quality of life through examination, evaluation and prescribed physical activity and treatment.
“As a physical therapist, my number one goal is to help a person return to their normal activity level, before their pain or immobility began,” shared MHP Director of Physical and Occupational Therapy Ryan Rowley. “While we cannot remedy every injury, physical therapy can help to improve the overall outcome.”
Physical therapy can help you stay physically active throughout your lifetime and keep you mobile in later years. Injuries associated with age, such as tendonitis, arthritis, low back pain and many other diagnoses can be treated with physical therapy.
“When it comes to helping a person heal, we have a variety of options available,” said Rowley. “We work with inpatients, outpatients and home health patients to help them decrease pain and regain mobility.”
Physical and Occupational Therapy provides services to a diverse population from pediatrics to geriatrics including orthopedic treatment, neurological treatment, aquatic treatment, balance therapy and more.
