MAHASKA COUNTY – Mahaska Health Partnership recently awarded two $750 scholarships to high school seniors pursuing a career in a health-related field.

Scholarship winners were chosen by the MHP Board of Trustees. They must have attended high school in Mahaska County and be accepted to an accredited school leading to a health-related career.

The 2013 MHP Scholarship winners are Josie Beecher of Oskaloosa, a senior at Oskaloosa High School who plans to attend the University of Iowa for physical therapy; and Brittany Brown of New Sharon, who attends North Mahaska High School and will be studying for a career as a child life specialist at William Penn University in the fall.

“Mahaska Health Partnership is honored to be able to present scholarships to students planning to enter a health related career,” MHP Board of Trustee Secretary Becky Siefering said. “We understand firsthand the value of well-trained healthcare professionals who are dedicated to the work they do.

“These scholarships are a way for MHP to both give back to our community and to foster the growth of healthcare as a profession. We are grateful for the opportunity to assist local students in reaching their educational and career goals.”
