Mahaska County YMCA Seeking Hole Sponsors for 2nd Annual Osky Winter Open
Oskaloosa, Iowa – Planning is well underway for the 2nd Annual Osky Winter Open, mini-putt golf held in Penn Central Mall. This creative event is geared for the whole community and proceeds support YMCA operations. Sponsors are being sought for the 2013 event scheduled for February 7 – 10, 2013.
The Y is pleased to announce that it already has planned all major special events to be held in 2013 enabling supportive businesses to pledge their support for the entire year at one time. “Our goal is be respectful of area businesses budgets and timing. The YMCA offers a tremendous amount of programs to the community. With this new process, businesses can decide in advance what they would like to sponsor throughout the year and not have to worry about multiple requests from the Y,” said Glenda Booy, Marketing Committee Chair.
The Y is also changing the time of their Annual Scholarship Campaign. Instead of conducting the campaign during the spring, it is being moved to the winter and will be kicked off during the Osky Winter Open. This change is being made in response to community and volunteer requests. The spring season is a difficult time due to everyone’s busy schedules. This also aligns the local YMCA campaign season with many other YMCA’s throughout the state and the nation.
Every year, the YMCA gives almost $60,000 in scholarships to ensure everyone is welcome, regardless of ability to pay. Last year, almost 200 families in need received scholarships for membership or programs.
