Mahaska County Y Announces Les Mills™ BODYPUMP™ Demo Class

Mahaska County YMCA

Oskaloosa, July 18, 2012 – The Mahaska County Y is ‘pumped up’ to be able to bring a Les Mills™ demo class, BODYPUMP™, to the Y on July 25 from 6:00-7:00 P.M. for members and non-members to experience. Les Mills™ is a company that utilizes group exercise classes to change the lives of people all around the world. Through a select group of various types of classes, including group cycling and yoga, Les Mills™ works with fitness organizations, such as YMCAs, to train and develop instructors using their group exercise class designs, to bring structured and sound programs to the members of group fitness facilities.

BODYPUMP™, the flagship group exercise class for Les Mills™, is a barbell-based class that utilizes focused, high-rep and low-weight, exercises to help tone and shape participants’ bodies, helping them to get into the best shape of their lives. Fitness Director Ryan Harkema said, “The Les Mills™ method of group exercise class instruction has been successful in many YMCAs and fitness facilities, and this demo class of BODYPUMP™ is a trial for the Mahaska County YMCA to see if the Les Mills™ program is something members would like to have at our facility. The response this trial receives will be instrumental in the decision to focus efforts on utilizing the Les Mills™ programs in the Fitness Department at our YMCA.”

The Mahaska County YMCA invites members and non-members alike to come to the Y on July 25 to experience BODYPUMP™ and help in the decision to incorporate the Les Mills™ philosophy into the Y’s group fitness offerings. Due to expected high demand for the class, a limited number of spots for the demo are available. Please contact the member services desk of the Mahaska County YMCA to reserve your spot for the class. Registrations will begin on July 18, 2012 and continue until all spots have been filled. Participants must meet the minimum YMCA group fitness class grade requirement, 9th, to be in the adult fitness studio and experience BODYPUMP™.
