Lyle Molyneux, 86, passed away on Friday, July 23 at the Manor House in Sigourney, Iowa. Lyle Gordon Molyneux was born on August 10, 1934 to Wesley and Hazel Phipps Molyneux at Barnes City, Iowa.

Lyle attended school at Gibson and graduated from What Cheer in 1952.

Lyle and Evelyn Nelson were united in marriage on May 25, 1952. They were the parents of four children, Larry, John, Alan and Mary Anne.

Lyle’s love of farming lasted all of his life. He farmed with his father Wesley, and the rest of his family in the Gibson and What Cheer area his entire life. He and Evelyn later purchased their current farm near What Cheer.

Family was the center of Lyle’s life. He also enjoyed riding his motorcycle and truly loved his grandchildren. Lyle was a lifelong member of the family of God.

Lyle is survived by his wife of 69 years, Evelyn; his children: Larry (& Jo Ellen) Molyneux of What Cheer, John (& Mary) Molyneux of What Cheer, Alan (& Brenda) Molyneux of Deep River, and Mary Anne (& Reed Ostenberg) Snakenberg of Keswick; 19 grandchildren; 42 great grandchildren; 14 great great grandchildren; his brother, Bernard Molyneux of Gibson; his sisters: Neisha (& Charles) Kitzman of Cedar Rapids, and Shirlee (& Jim) Johnson of Palm Beach Garden, FL; other nieces and nephews as well as many friends.

Lyle is preceded in death by his parents, Wesley and Hazel Molyneux, an infant brother, Leland; his sister, Donna Brock; and a grandson, David Molyneux.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 27 beginning at 11:00 am at the Holland-Coble Funeral Home in What Cheer.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service beginning at 10:00 am.
Burial will be held in the Sixteen Cemetery near Thornburg, Iowa.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the What Cheer Fire Department. Holland-Coble Funeral Home of What Cheer is in charge of the arrangements.
